The Team was selected by the City of Coachella to perform Preliminary Engineering, Engineer’s Report, and Environmental Document services for the proposed SR-86/Avenue 50 New Interchange project located on the east side of the Coachella Valley Storm Channel (CVSC). The proposed project is to be built on a new alignment matching the Avenue 50 Bridge over CVSC, then connecting back to the existing alignment east of SR-86 expressway.
The project proposed a modified Type L-9 Partial Cloverleaf that includes a loop on-ramp in the southeast quadrant of the interchange to accommodate the anticipated heavy eastbound-to-northbound movement of morning commute traffic. It also includes realignment of Avenue 50 and Tyler Street, constructing a two-span structure over the existing SR-86 with addition of signing and traffic signal controls.
